THE CHARM OF LISBON
The charm of Lisbon exists in its strong links to the past. Its renovated palaces, magnificent churches and an impressive castle mirror the city’s rich cultural heritage. Its eclectic blend of neighborhoods, culture and architecture distinguish this capital city uniquely from the other European capitals and make it a truly fascinating and comprehensive city to visit.
On the first day a gastronomic walking tour is planned with stops in Ribadouro beerhouse for an appetizer. After this stop the group will take the Glória funicular to go from downtown to uptown. Once uptown, the group will walk to Trindade beerhouse for a degustation menu. Afterwards the group will continue walking towards Chiado. Coffee and dessert will be served at the National Theatre of Sao Carlos restaurant. The tour ends nearby Rossio Square to finalize with a “Ginginha”: a cherry brandy, very popular among the locals.
After the tour some free time will be given to the participants in downtown before returning to the hotel. At night the group will have dinner with a Fado performance at Restaurant Bacalhau de Molho.This restaurant is a mark in the Portuguese gastronomy and in the art of well serving. During the 3 course meal several Fado singers will perform.
On the second day a Go Car tour is Belém is planned. This charismatic car will not only show you the way (with a GPS) but also point you Lisbon’s most important attractions and the history facts related to it. With 2 people on board (maximum capacity) this small car’s ride guaranteed fun! Belém is the monumental part of Lisbon. On arrival stop for a coffee break at “Antiga Confeitaria de Belém” to try the speciality made of crackling pastry, cream and cinnamon!
After this, the tour will continue with stops at the most interesting sight of this area: Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries. Stop for lunch at restaurant Tromba Rija. After lunch a bus will pick up the group to return to the hotel. Those participants who prefer can be dropped of in downtown and return on their own.
